is a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher and fitness instructor. As a young dancer in Indiana, Meryl studied various forms of dance (jazz tap, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, and ballet), performed at multiple NBA Pacers half-time shows, and traveled with tap company TappIndiana. While attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, she danced and choreographed for Vanderbilt Dance Theatre and Momentum Dance Group. She also joined Nashville’s professional dance company, Found Movement Group directed by Stacie Flood-Popp, which featured styles ranging from contemporary lyrical to hip hop. After graduating with a degree in Human and Organizational Development, she moved to L.A. to continue following her dreams. Meryl has danced in movies and television such as Disney’s “Shake It Up,” ABC’s “Nashville,” CW’s “Vampire Diaries,” and the feature film “Footloose.” She has also toured as a backup dancer with pop artist Britt Nicole and worked as an assistant choreographer for tour and commercials. Besides her dance career, Meryl maintains an established fitness career. She is the Head Teacher of both Pure Barre Santa Monica + Brentwood, and has taught the Pure Barre technique for over five years. She is also certified in Piloxing and Zumba.
Teaching is one of Meryl’s main passions, she loves witnessing her students learn and grow. In dance you can truly find a release, letting go of self-consciousness and fear as you find that connection with the music and yourself.
