I am Amy Gumenick
has been part of The Pretenders Studio family since its opening in 2007, in a variety of positions from office staff to assistant, sub, instructor and beyond. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Amy grew up in the competitive dance and theater world, where she discovered her love for performance at a very early age. Though the performing arts were constant in her upbringing, she formerly cultivated her passion for acting at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater with an emphasis in acting, graduating with honors and distinction. Since graduating, Amy has worked consistently as an actress in film, television and theater.
When not on stage or set, Amy finds great joy in teaching all ages and firmly believes in the healing power of the arts. She founded YES Theater Ensemble for at risk youth in Santa Barbara, co-founded The Pretenders Junior Theater Company, with her sister and studio owner, Lisa, is a founding member of The Pretenders Theater Company, Theatricians Theater Group and volunteers with The Art of Elysium, bringing performing and visual arts into hospitals, schools, rehabilitation facilities, old age homes and more. Additionally, Amy coaches children, teens and adults in acting for camera and audition technique.
